Sojiro Sakuma, who was originally from Chosei-gun, Chiba Prefecture and was a manufacturer of Japanese sweets at the time, made his own drops that had been imported from England, and researched them to bring them to market as the first domestically produced drops. After repeated efforts, in 1908, we finally completed a drop that was as good as foreign products.
