"Owara Kaze no Bon" is one of Japan’s most magical and poetic traditional festivals, held annually from September 1st to 3rd in the historic town of Yatsuo, Toyama Prefecture.
Unlike rowdy or energetic summer festivals with loud chanting and fireworks, Owara is known for its serene, elegant, and nostalgic atmosphere.
Hours are 17:00–23:00 on September 1st–2nd, and 19:00–23:00 on September 3rd.
Access: Get off at Etchu-Yatsuo Station on the JR Takayama Main Line; it is about a 30-minute walk to the town center.

Why is it celebrated? Originally, the festival was held to pray for safety against devastating autumn typhoons ("Kaze") and to ensure a bountiful rice harvest. Today, it remains a breathtaking display of traditional Japanese aesthetic and community heritage.
